Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be tech-savvy to use this?

No. The whole reason Sammie exists is to simplify all things sales and marketing. We load pre-built templates and workflows into your account so the heavy lifting is already done, and the Getting Started Guide walks you through the rest with step-by-step videos so you can hit the ground running.

How long until I’m actually live?

Most owners are live within a few days, not weeks, though it depends on how much time you can dedicate daily. Your pre-built workflows and templates load into your account immediately. The Onboarding Guide walks you through setup in 5-days. However, you can go slower or faster.

Does this replace my current booking and CRM software?

Yes. Sammie is built to replace the stack of tools most local businesses run: booking, POS, texting, email marketing, post-service follow-up, contact management, and more. It all lives in one place.

Is there an industry-specific version for my business?

We are rolling out industry-specific versions over time. If you are a spray tan business, yes, the Sammie x Bronzey system is built specifically for spray tan artists, salons, and studios, and it comes with workflows, automations, and templates created for that industry. Spray tan owners also get a dedicated Bronzey Training Portal that Lindsey continues to add to. More niches are on the way.

What happens if I want to cancel?

You just cancel. No contract, no penalty, no awkward call. You can export your contacts and data on the way out.

How do multiple bookings work? Can you separate clients under one ticket?

You can add guests to a single booking, create multiple appointments, edit the time on each, and connect different contacts. So a group booking and individually tracked clients are both covered.

Is there a payment processing fee?

Sammie integrates with processors like Stripe and Square, and their standard processing fees apply.

Is payment processing secure, and is there a card reader or is it website-only?

All payments are secure. You connect your own processor (such as Stripe or Square), and you can process payments on mobile as well as through your website and booking pages.

Is a signature required to process payments?

No, no signature is required.

How fast does money hit my bank account, and can I track my daily numbers?

You can track all of your revenue and service numbers inside Sammie. Payouts are handled by your connected processor (Stripe, Square, or another supported processor), so deposit timing follows that processor's schedule.

Does the payment processor offer a separate savings account for taxes?

No. Sammie does not offer any banking, checking, or savings accounts.

Can I require all clients to keep a card on file when booking?

Yes, you can require a card at booking without charging the client up front. In your calendar's payment settings, enter your service amount, turn on Accept Partial Payments, and set the amount due at booking to $0. This saves the card on file while collecting nothing at the time of booking.

Can I automatically charge cancellation or no-show fees to the card on file?

This part has a manual step. Sammie does not auto-charge a no-show or late-cancellation fee on its own. When a client no-shows or cancels late, you open that appointment, go to the Payments tab, and charge the card on file for your fee in a couple of clicks. The card authorization is generally valid for about four weeks, so as long as you charge within that window you are covered. We recommend stating your cancellation and no-show policy clearly on your booking page and intake form so clients agree to it up front.

Can I include my consent and waiver forms inside the same submission form as my intake form?

Yes. You can build a single submission form that includes your intake questions plus your consent and waiver language, so clients complete everything in one place instead of juggling separate PDFs. You can add a signature field so the waiver is captured right inside the form.

Can forms be required only for first-time clients, renew on a schedule, or change based on the service booked?

The form itself does not have a built-in "first-timers only" or "renew every 6 months" toggle, but you can build all of that with workflows. Here is how each piece works:

First-time clients only: Tag a contact as a returning client after their first visit, then only send or require the form when that tag is missing.

Consent that renews every 6 or 12 months: Store the date consent was last signed in a custom field, then run a workflow that re-sends the form once that date passes your chosen window.

Different forms by service: Send the right form based on the service or calendar the client booked.

Auto-request an updated consent after a set period: Same as the renewal setup above, driven by the date field and a wait step.

This is a great one to bring to Office Hours if you want help mapping it to your exact services.

In rebooking emails, can I include a direct "Book Now" button or link to my booking page?

Yes. Add a button element in the email builder and point it straight at your booking page link. Save that link as a Custom Value so it is one click to insert anywhere. If you are reminding clients about an existing appointment instead, use the merge fields below, which work for every booked appointment no matter where it originated:

How does prep and after-service info work?

We have intake (prep) and post-service workflows that send before and after each appointment automatically, so clients show up prepared and leave knowing exactly how to care for their results.

Can I ban or block clients?

You cannot fully "ban" a client, but you can mark them as DND (Do Not Disturb), which stops them from receiving emails, texts, and other messages. Combined with blocking them on social media, this helps keep them away from your content.

Can I transfer clients from my previous software?

Yes. You import clients using a CSV file. You export your list from your current software and upload it into Sammie. It is a simple process, and the Getting Started Guide walks you through it step by step.

Does Sammie track sales tax?

Yes, you can track sales tax in Sammie. It is typically used for retail, but the feature is available to everyone.

Can I track inventory?

Yes, you can manage inventory inside Sammie.

Can I use Sammie for payroll, clocking in and out, and tips?

No, Sammie does not handle payroll or time clocks. We love and recommend Gusto for tracking hours and paying out tips. QuickBooks Payroll works well too. Sammie covers your booking, payments, and client side, and your payroll tool covers the rest. You can learn more about and sign up for Gusto here.

Can Sammie help me increase my SEO ranking?

Yes. Your websites and funnel pages can be optimized for SEO so you show up when local clients are searching.

Does Sammie work for mobile businesses?
